I don't know what Happned but here it goes. 82'Olds cutlass Calais. I
started to drive home and suddenly lost my hight heat speed other
speeds work then turned on my headlights and there was nothing. No
headlights or tailights or dashlights. My brake lights work and the
dome light works also my flashers work. I had a similar proglem with a
different olds but i just lost tailights and it was a bad ground in the
trunk.  I haven't lost both lights befoe fron and rear. I tried a
different that was working in another car but no change in mine. I was
looking for ideas without tearing the whole wiring aprts driving myself
crazy. :)

Thanks
chris

I would be looking for a burned fuse link wire first I think.  They are
located on the starter solenoid and are fat wires about 8" long with a
rubber tube connector where they join the harness.  They hook on the
same bolt as the battery cable on the solenoid.

Second I would be looking for a dead body ground.  The main one is a
mesh strap from the bell housing to the body.  When it goes, the
secondary one melts, then breaks.  The secondary ground is a small black
wire from the battery to the fender.  Look there for evidence of melted
insulation.
