Im not sure that that is correct. Scientology is a cult, and has led many
many
young people astray over the years. Christian cults are no better.
But Scientology IS a cult, and it has done harm.

Absolute bullcrap. Sure, many atrocities have been committed in the NAME
of Christianity.
However, for ALL Christians, Jesus's words in the New Testament are the
absolute laws of Christianity - you cannot profess it any other way and
still call yourself a Christian - it's inherent in the definition of the
belief system.
And you would be very very hard pressed to find anything directly attributed
to Jesus in the New Testament that is an order to committ any kind of
atrocity.
Believe me, I've spent many hours looking for this in order to get material
to
cut down holier-than-thou "Christians" that claim the moral high ground. (I
have to resort to cutting them down other ways)
Naturally the Old Testament is chock full of juicy muggings, sluggings,
people killing off other people so they could f.ck their wives, you name it.
And there's also plenty of stuff like that in the New Testament as well -
but
when you dig into it, it always seems to have been uttered by someone
OTHER than Jesus, or by some nincompoop who is misinterpreting
something that Jesus said.

Call it the "Bible Thumper Cult" victims and you would be on the money -
or the "Christian-wannabes". But the real Christians - well it's kind of
hard to reconcile justification for an atrocity with stuff like the Golden
Rule.

The Bible is much like a human being, torture it long enough and it'll say
anything you want; therefore there are no "absolutes" in Christianity. Those
Christians who have commited countless atrocities over the centuries found
there inspiration in the Bible.
Such is the nature of an ambiguous text like the Bible, you find
justification for your condemnation of others' acts in the name of God base
on YOUR INTERPRETATION. Others would disagree.
