If you have a blown fusible link, the cigarette lighter will be the least
of your problems. The fact that the entire vehicle would be stone cold
dead would be a dead giveaway. At the very least, there will be a *large*
number of other dead systems. There is no fusible link just for the
damn cigarette lighter.

Actually, some cars DO have a fusible link just for the damn cigarette
lighter. It seems like a bad engineering decision to me, but then I
had to replace it.

Yeah, I recollect my old 1961 Comet had a meltable clip holding the
wire to the back of the lighter outlet, so that if it overheated for
any reason it would automatically disconnect.
