please help, I need a recommendation for a good, honest shop that does
good work in the Falls Church, VA area.  Will pay for quality work.
Cars to be maintained are a VW Corrado G60 and a Porsche 944.  I'm
currently disassembling the Corrado due to various issues and I've gone
from annoyed to angry to livid at the slipshod nature of the work done
on it that the owner has paid good money for at several supposedly
reputable shops.  I'm getting desperate, the Porsche needs some work too
and I don't have time to do it and I don't know a single mechanic that I
trust (although several I'd like to have words with...)

thanks,

nate

bumpity bump...  I find it hard to believe that there's not a single
honest mechanic this close to our nation's capital?

Nate, have you tried the AAA site.

It might help you work up a shortlist at any rate.

Where on their site do they have this info?  I took a quick look and
couldn't find it.  I didn't spend too much time because I am not a
member and suspect that you need to be, is this correct?

Actually there is one shop I have a good feeling about but would like
some independent corroboration.

Nope, you dont have to be a member for this.  But you have to dig for it a
little.
Or, just call the local AAA, and ask.

I dont know where you live, so cant really run the gamut on this for you,
but
if you want to tell me the state or district, I will see what I can find.

Best regards

eh, found it, just needed to be reassured that I would actually find
something.

That actually *is* somewhat helpful... the shop I had a good feeling
about is on the list and is the only one listed that mentions
specializing in German cars; none of the ones that the girlie has had
bad experiences with are on that list, although results show up within
the same area as those shops.

I just have some amount of trepidation at taking a Porsche with a
suspected bad transaxle to a shop that I've only been into once, and
that for having snow tires mounted...  that just seems a little too
close to dropping the soap for my taste.

location is Falls Church, VA 22046...

Nate, how far are you from Wyndmoor, Pennsylvania?

About 165 miles per mapquest :(

actually, come to think of it, there was a guy named Peter in Delaware
that I used to buy VW parts from, and he was starting to also do some
repair work out of his garage...  I wonder if he'd be interested in
taking on the Corrado...  I think he was really a Scirocco specialist though
