Tegger, can you buy a factory service manual for Toyotas, as you can for
some other cars?

You sure can. You can order them from Techinfo or through your local
dealership.
As far as outside supply of factory manuals, I know VW has "Bentley" and
Honda has "Helm", but I do not know if Toyota has a similar outside source
for factory manuals.

Word of warning though they are expensive, well over $400 US for the complete set. I purchased the
three main volumes for our 98 GS and they have paid for themselves two time over.
