going on a trip, one tire skinnier than the other

I am going on a trip 300 miles or so and I am driving a 2001 Dodge
Caravan. Recently the tire went flat on the rear passenger's side and
I took it to a garage. the garage didn't have the correct match to the
other tires on the vehicle, but they had one that was a bit skinnier
than the rest. What will happen when travelling on and highway speeds?
will it do or must I get them replaced.

thanks.

I wouldn't drive any distance with "unmatched" tires.

I would get the correct size tire fitted.

You didn't say which model of 91 Caravan you have (there's a bunch).
Or which options it has (there's a bunch).
Or if it's FWD or AWD (it matters).

What size tire did you have, and what size did they put on?

> I would get the correct size tire fitted.

I wouldn't think it was horribly critical on the rear axle of a Caravan,
as long as it's about the same height, with a comparible load rating,
and not *too* skinny, as it's a non-driving non-steering tire that basically
just holds up that corner (UNLESS IT'S ALL-WHEEL DRIVE).

It's not my van - I was responding to the original poster.

I would be concerned about one tire losing traction or locking up
prematurely.  I would also be concerned about weight carrying ability
since it is on the rear wheel.  And finally I could be concerned about
performing front to rear tire rotation that most of us practice to
even out tread wear.  So yes, there are several good reasons to use
the correct size in addition to the advice that I'm sure is in the
owners manual.
