Could 20in rims fit on a taurus w/o needing a lift?

WHY??? A Taurus is never going to be a good car, no matter how much you
spend on wheels and tires.
To answer your original question, I don't know.

Yes... no problem at all.
Of course putting rubber on them might make a difference.

With a judicious application of angle grinder to the fender wells
ANYTHING is possible. But you'll find yourself still driving a piece
of sh.t, except now you have 20 inch rims.
Good luck with it.

As long as the old tires were taller than 20", then sure.
With a low enough profile tire, you could keep them the stock height and
width and everything would fit fine.
You might need custom rims, but it's nothing you can't fix with money.

I gave it short and sweet.
I only used one word.
I didn't ponder.
I didn't strayoff.
so.....me knowing that to be fact and the fact being me
knowing what the facts are as the facts of the OP's statement
are now factually posted for alltime, for all to see...for all
to reread.

Come on... there could be a few good reasons to put 20" rims on a Taurus...
- No need to pull over if you get a flat... Tire profile is so low that
there ain't much air in there to start with. You might even get away with
"spray on rubber"!
- If the cops are chasing you and the toss out a spike strip your Taurus
won't bottom out on the frame when the tires shred apart.
- More room for those stationary advertising hubcaps I see on cabs all over
Vegas advertising for Denny's.
- No need for cinderblocks to store the big redneck auto collection on your
front yard.
- Save the environment! The amount of rubber in a 20 series tire should be
much less than a 70 series tire! (Yes, 20 ratio tires exist:

And you won't get any speeding tickets as it'll be unable to break 40mph.
Try to stop it from 35mph, loss control and leave it in a ditch.

Only if the backhoe has a trunk lid.

Just when I thought I had heard everything, in walks Vanilla Ice
wanting to put 20's on a Taurus. Does the concept of throwing a set
of + $1000.00 wheels and tires on a $200.00 POS strike anyone as
dumb. Well at least all the girlies will say "your pretty fly for a
white guy"!
