92 Buick Century idle problems

I have a problem with a 92 buick century 6 cyl that either runs at a
fast idle or stalls when it is idling. The check engine light does not
come on.

Sometimes it runs fine, but not very often.

Any ideas?

What engine?

That engine is not known for manifold problems.
Several things to check:
vacuum leaks from hoses, etc.
worn out TPS
dirty MAF
Remove the console trans switch - indicator light assembly and
resolder EVERY solder joint.
