what should this cost for both sides, parts and labor? ballpark is
great. Just having trouble nailing this down from my locals - getting
really various prices. $399 $700 and "Why are they replacing the
swaybars?"

thanks in advance!

I would avoid that shop as well - for the rest of my life.  1 strike in my
book.  Cars are too expensive to allow two.

Look up the parts on the internet.  Get a subscription to alldatadiy.com -
$24/year and worth every penny.  They publish book times.  Using those two
pieces of info along with the shop hr rate, you should be able to evaluate
any estimate.  Otherwise you are flying blind - just they way they like it.
