Just replaced "fuel pump", it cranks but will not turn over. Can
anyone tell me what direction to go now? The Jeep has been sitting for
about 3 months. Thanks

Maybe...
If you turn the key just to 'run', you should hear the fuel pump prime
the line.
If not, then you have a pump or power issue.
One sneaky one that can happen is when they do the emergency brake
recall, they can forget to hook a black wire up to the bolt that holds
the e-brake onto the body. This wire is the fuel pump ground.
Another one is the wire mesh strap that runs from the back of the engine
head to the firewall on the 4.0 engine or maybe one from the battery to
the firewall or fender can be bad.
When this happens the computer wont turn on. To test, I run a booster
cable from the battery negative to the body.

Thanks; I'll give it a try. I'll be sure to let you know what happens.
It cranks; it just doesn't want to turn over. I'll get back to you.
Thanks Again

Take a look at the crank sensor. It should be on the end of the
tranny.

O.K. I just tried both your ideas; still NOTHING! Do you think that
the gas that in it is bad? Any other ideas??

The crank sensor is on the bellhousing on the top drivers side. Follow
the wire from it and clean the connection. They are notorious for a bad
connection there.
Does the pump turn on for 2 seconds when you put the key to run?

Hello again.
I don't hear the pump run at all. THere was a black wire that ran down
to the tank flange along with the orange and pink wires that ran
inside. The black wire was not attached. It had a bade connector that
had rusted off. I could not find where it had been attached, so I put
on a new connector, and attached it to one of the flange bolts. I have
also run a jumper cable from the battery negative to the body, and
from the tank flange to the frame. Still no sound from the pump. I'm
at a loss.

Put a test lamp (just a 12V bulb with leads) between the power wire and
the ground... if it doesn't light up, check the fuel pump relay and the
fuse and fusible links.
If it lights up, you gotta pull that pump again.

That spade that is missing could go to the base plate for the pump as
it's ground because there is a rubber gasket isolating it from the tank.
My CJ7 has one.

Your terminology is wrong. "Cranking" and "turning over" are the same
thing.
Your car WILL turn over, it just won't FIRE UP.

Well, measure the fuel pressure. Is there any pressure at the rail?
If there isn't, the pump is either not working, or your filter is plugged
pretty solid, or the regulator is gone.
If you pinch the regulator return hose, and the pressure comes up,
the regulator is bad. If it doesn't, change the filter and check the
voltage on the pump.
If there is no voltage at the pump, it won't turn. If it's got voltage
and still isn't turning, you got a bum one and need to take it back.
If you DO have correct pressure at the rail and it won't start, yo have
a problem that isn't your fuel delivery system... you need to make sure
you have spark next if that's the case.

It sounds like you are not getting any spark to plugs. It could be a
bad ignition module or a pick up coil in the distrbutor. If the vehicle
has a lot of miles on it replace both, Good luck...
