Wont Start - Blowing Starters out - 96 Infiniti I30

My girlfriend's I30 was having a starting issue. When I tried, it
turned fine, just wouldn't fire enough (it would fire a little, but
then fail to start). So I changed the fuel filter and PCV.

At this point however, it seemed as if the battery had been worn down,
but, the car wouldn't take a jump. Auto Zone said the battery was fine
and fully charged. So I removed the starter and they said it failed. I
installed a brand new starter and it cranked a few times just like
before (trying to fire) but then again, now the starter wont engage,
whir or anything.

Is something blowing out the starter?
And what else could be keeping the car from starting?

Many thanks in advance,
magmike

remove the plugs and see if it cranks over. there is the possibility
of engine coolant in one of the cylinders. in which case you likely
have head gasket failure. That could ruin the starter.
get auto zone to test the starter for you.

You could be describing dirty main battery cable connections.  Not
taking a jump start is classic bad connection.  Don't forget that the
cables have 2 ends....

Actually, the battery was fine. Auto Zone tested it and said that it
was fully charged. In addition, this is a brand new battery. The
starter was blown was the issue. We pulled it off and had it tested.
However, after replacing it, it seemed to have stopped working again.
However, now the car is starting. I'm not sure what is up. I suspect
however, that in the future I will run into this again and have to
figure out what is up. I suspect maybe the ignition switch.
