The manual for my '94 Acclaim 3.0 shows a gasket on the oil drain plug,
but gives absolutely no information as to type.  Should this be copper,
rubber, nylon, or what kind?

Go to your dealer parts counter and they can sell you the correct one..

If any of the parts wonks had been any help, I wouldn't have asked here.

Found an online source that calls it a crush washer. The only thing in my
experience that's close was the copper washer needed on a 1986 Alliance.

I'd go for a copper crush washer, less temperature reactive.
