The Garmin Nuvi 350 is rated best by Consumer Reports & was
recommended to me by people I know.  I got it for $360 on Buy.com.

GPS is helpful in areas you don't know or for a long trip.  But there
are some errors in it.  It's best to use it in conjunction with a map
or road atlas.  Review your trip with a map for a general overview,
and then if something doesn't seem right in the GPS you can avoid a
mistake.

One of the best features is to help you find towing services, rest
stops, eateries & other helpful places that are near you.

$360us is too expensive to me, my buget is around $200CAN, and ship to
Toronto. i am consider the 3.5' GPS on the website that i mentioned
before, because it is just $140us, and i checked the shipment just
cost me $18us. it is under my budget. how you guys think about that,
is it reasonable? and will the maps change in the future, how i can
updated that data?

I have the December issue of Consumer reports Canada. It lists 6
possible GPS devices as best gifts. Garmin Nuvi 660, $700.00. Garmin
Nuvi 350 $500.00. Magellan Crossover GPS, $500.00. TOM TOM One
$300.00. Magellan roadmate 2000, $250.00. Garmin Street Pilot c330,
$300.00. It calls the last 3 CR Best Buys. I have seen the Tom Tom's
on for half price. Probably by mid January they will be virtually
giving them away.

A map and common sense will be far more useful than a GPS.

This is soooo true. When I think about how much we complicate our lives it
really makes me wonder.

I spent $80 on headphones to get rid of the wire that was on my $2.99
headphones. This to play the MP3's stored on my $200 cellphone that I got to
keep from carrying around my $19 MP3 player.
