the truck just quit like it ran out of gas. started burbling, kept it
going for 30sec by pressing the accelerator more. then it quit and
will not start.

the truck has two tanks and has gas.

could it be the fuel pump? where is the fuel pump on this beast?

thanks

Your beast has 3 fuel pumps. One low pressure in each tank and a high
pressure on the frame below the brake master cylinder. Could be fuel
pump but could be a host of other things too. Cna you hear the pumps
run for a couple of seconds when you turn the key on. you should hear
the in tank pump on whatever tank you are on as well as the high
pressure pomp up front. If not it could be a fusible link, fuel pump
relay, broken wire and on and on and on. Was it runnung fine before it
shot craps?

Definitely check the fuel pump cut-off switch (usually located near
passenger's right foot under carpet or sidewall cover) if you can't
hear fuel pump.  Designed to shut off fuel pump in event of a crash.
Might have been tripped.

it was running fine. was just sitting there idleing and started to
cough and then died.

you can definetly hear the pump on the frame rail when you turn the
key. it runs for 5-6 secs then shuts off.

not sure about the tank pump. but won't run on either tank.

any way to test if there is fuel at the manifold? the lines seem
strange to take off.

the engine light comes on, but not sure if it did that before or not.
