On 96 and 97 vehicles, the data link connector has to be visible with the
driver door open and the technician in a kneeling position.
98 and newer, the connector can be almost anywhere, plus, it can be
covered or uncovered. If it is covered, it can't require a tool to remove
the cover.
I saw a chart somewhere, that listed the location of data link connectors
on different year--make models. It was interesting, I don't know how
accurate.
