I'm going to be replacing the head gasket on my Jeep Wrangler soon. My two
choices of gasket sets was Fel-Pro or Victor. The Fel-Pro head gasket set
cost about three times more than the Victor set. Are the Fel-Pro gaskets
that much better to justify the extra expense or is a gasket a gasket. I'm
more interested in using high quality parts and the job lasting than trying
to save a buck. I appreciate any opinions.

Thanks,
Dennis B.

I am sure there are many opinions but, the Felpro IMHO is a
superior gasket in more ways than one when I want to make
sure I din't do the job too frequently.  It is one of those
things where you get what you pay for.  If you haven't
already looked around, there are several places on the net
where you can get the good stuff at reasonable prices like
Summitt Racing, Jegs, RockAuto and others.  Summitt and Jegs
are my favorites.  Many times, Summitt has their house brand
parts that have proven decent.

A Felpro gasket is not worth three times more than a Victor.
I suggest you shop around and you will see where the problem is.
Victor does make decent gaskets...

I would generally agree with that but, I have seen a couple
of applications where Felpro had the only product to
permanently fix the job - no comparable product in the
market.  I complained about the price but never about
getting the job done.

I have always had the best results from Fel-Pro.  My current Fel Pro
head gasket is about 8 years old and still holding strong.  So is my
valve cover gasket.

Pretty much either will work if your block and head are nice and flat.

If you are not decking the block or reworking the head, go with the
Feel-Pro. it will work better in a situation where a couple of
thousandths out of whack on either the block or head won't result in a
"do over" in two weeks.

JMHO anyway.
