How did you check the fluid level? Engine running or engine off?

What kind of "sift" problems do you have?
Does it get stuck in second?
Do the engine revs flare up then drop suddenly as the car lurches forward?
Is your "S" light or "D4" light flashing?

It sounds like they are complaining about slow shifting.  Right now
I'd blame cold weather since they haven't given us enough details to
really say much else.
More details would be things like:

How many miles are on the car?
How many miles are on the transmission?
How was the fluid level checked?
Describe what the fluid looks like
Between what gears is is slow to shift?
Does it do it all the time?
