The Zemco DT4 was made in California by Zemco Inc., 12907 Santa Alcosta Bvd,
San Ramon California. It was sold in Canada by Canadian Tire and Woodwards
Stores and probably others.  In about 1980 it sold for $180.00CDN in
Canadian Tire.

I've had two of these units on vehicles and they were great, they do not
seem to be in existence any more so I would like to find out if there is an
equivalent unit made today.

The Zemco DT4 monitored fuel flow ( flowsensor unit had a magnetic paddle
wheel that was turned by fuel flow), driveshaft speed (magnets mounted on
driveshaft & magnetic pickup coil on underbody) and time (multifunction
clock).
From those parameters it would display real time distance, fuel mileage,
fuel consumed or balance remaining since reset (every tankfull), time of
day, It was easily calibrated for speed, fuel flow and consumption in either
Imperial or Metric.

The Display Head was about 4" wide and 2" high, and displayed MPH, DIST,
TIME, FUEL and MPG.
I believe the same company made an aftermarket cruise control which may
still be available in Europe.
Is anything similar to the Zemco DT4 on the market today?

                                        Thanks;

I had one of these as well, it was great! The fuel sensor crapped out
eventually, near as I can tell the bulb burned out, and I couldn't
find any replacement parts or complete units. I miss it greatly, wish
I had one again. Here's a pic of mine I just took, I spend a few hours
searching the web for another one but gave up.

I love these little computers. Alas, they can't be used on modern cars
with EFI. I have one but need a Diesel/EFI interface module made for
them. Zemco sold one, but not many left. Keep a lookout on E-Bay they
show up occasionally.

You, Spud and JazzMan all posted a comment on the Zemco Computer back in
May 2004. I just replied to Spuds post. You might be interested. JMARS

Not familiar with the DT4. But I'm very familiar with the CompuCruise Model
44 by Zemco Inc.I had one installed in my 1973 Grand Am. My brother bought
one Mar. 1981. He never installed it. I picked it up from him a couple of
years ago. Still in the box. Computer and parts still in plastic bags.
total 'Virgin'. I mentioned this unit to one other person. I'm working on
a deal with him for a new computer. I installed one on my 2000 Chevy Van a
couple of days ago, and it is fantastic' If you liked the CompuCruise -
hold on to your 'a.s'. Guess I will test the market a little and see what
I might get for a 'Virgin'. As soon as I work out the details I will post
information on the new computer.

You installed this on a fuel injected vehicle? How did you connect the
fuel flow sensor? I actually have a couple of these units, and have been
waiting and searching for one of the EFI interface modules they made to
be able to use mine.

1973 Grand Am was not FI and my computer was a model 44. Never heard of
DT4. Heard from another person, his would not take FI.
