Hi,

I just learned from my insurance company that if I install a car alarm
in the car, it will save $40 a year on auto insurance.

I've been looking on ebay for something inexpensive, but I figured I'd
ask here before committing to anything.  Any opinions on best DIY car
alarm to buy?  I'm hoping for something with starter-kill and a few
flashing lights and sirens.  I don't mind a complex install, I
freqently use the service manual for other projects.  I appreciate any
input.  It's a small 2-door hatchback, so it doesn't require lots of
sensors for multiple doors.

Thanks very much,
Dan

I'm a Viper and Alpine fan. Recommend: Auto lock after 10-40
seconds, if you live in a bad neigborhood. Silent arm/disarm, if you
live in a quiet neighborhood. Easy to adjust shock sensor, if there are
firetrucks or cats. Practical speaker siren sounds to scare them off and
blend in. With the auto lock feature, rig a wire somewhere to unlock if
you lock yourself out.
