Question about reading computer codes on 89 Honda Accord

I know that some cars have a way of getting a computer code reading from
doing something with the ignition and counting the blinking lights.  Is
there such a thing for an 89 Honda Accord SEI?  I think one of my
sensors has bit the bullet.  In case someone has another idea what could
be causing this problem I guess I should explain it.

Recently my car has had real problems starting.  The problem came on
rather abruptly and now in order to start my car I've learned a
procedure of first pumping the gas pedal once or twice and then when the
engine starts to turn over I sorta flutter the gas pedal so the car
doesn't stall and I get the RPM up really high and hold it there long
enough to get the engine a bit warm.  Once the engine is warm the
problem is gone until the engines cold again.  I suspect its the coolant
temp sensor but I'd like to know for sure.

Thanks 8-)

Is this a carbed model?

This procedure is for the '90, but may work for the '89 as well:
Find the blue 2-prong connector dangling behind the passenger footwell kick
panel. Short it with a paper clip or something, then count the flashes of
the Check Engine light.

There may be short and long flashes, and the sequence will repeat. One long
flash is worth 10 short flashes, so l-s-s would equal code 12.

Now what does it mean?

No.  It's fuel injected.  I didn't think there would be any carb models
on that late a date.
