When you disconnected the battery, the trans computer lost its memory and
is now having to "re-learn". There is a "fast learn" procedure you can
find on allpar.com . Also, while you're thinking about the transmission,
*change your fluid and filter*, using the correct fluid. In your '94, you
can use either ATF+3 or ATF+4. The latter is better, but more expensive
and usually available only from the dealer. The concern over torque
converter shudder does not apply to transmissions in service, just to
transmissions in older minivans that have a new torque converter. Do not
attempt to use ANYTHING other than ATF+3 or ATF+4. No additive "converts"
any other fluid, and Scamsoil's "universal" fluid...isn't.
It will pay you in convenience and durability to get the reusable trans
pan gasket and the filter from the dealer rather than using aftermarket
parts.
