I drive a Ford Taurus L. Yesterday or two days ago, I turned the car off
and walked away. When I came back a few minutes later, it was dripping
green fluid from the near the front of the car. I shopped, and it did the
same near the store. I'm pretty sure it hasn't done so since, but now
there's another problem: Whenever I drive it, the temperature gauge goes
up a bit higher than usual. It's still within the range marked "normal",
but it's igher than it used to be.
Anyone know what's wrong?
(I figured something like this would likely be covered in a FAQ, but
couldn't find a FAQ for the group.)
Please followup so that Google can read your post, as I'm unsure my server
carries these groups. Thanks!

Sounds like you definitely have a leak in the cooling system. If you don't
get it fixed pretty soon, you will run out of coolant and overheat the
engine.

cooling system is leaking -- to properly diagnose -- you will need to perform a
cooling system pressure test.
take it to you local shop -- have them perform the pressure test to determine
the cause

Definetely a coolant leak that needs mechanical repair. Could be a
split hose, broken connection, or failed seal. Do not try and fix the
leak with can of Barrs or alumiseal, a drip like what your describing
needs repair.

If you have to ask this question, you won't be able to fix it , take it to
a shop before you burn up the engine. There is no magic fix.

Thanks, all, for your responses.
It still hasn't leaked since the first two times I saw it leak (which were
one right after another). This is an old car that I don't want to put
more money into. So two questions:
(1) Is it possible there's really no problem? (After all, it hasn't
leaked of late.)
(2) Assuming (as I do) that there is a problem, is there any danger? --
or am I merely risking that the car will break down?

Green fluid is also known as anti-freeze, or coolant.
So if you have lost some of your radiator's coolant the engine will not
be able to disperse the heat as well, hence the higher operating
temperature.
> Anyone know what's wrong?
You have either a dirty radiator, or a leak. This can be determined by
finding WHERE the anti-freeze is leaking out from. If it is from the
overflow, then a radiator flush would cure it.
If is a leak, it could be from a hose, fitting, or the radiator core
itself.

I am thinking a google search for dripping green yellow fluid from car
engine would have given you some clues.

It is antifreeze. Is it possible that someone recently
filled your cooling system? If they overfilled the
reservoir, the excess antifreeze will be forced out of the
resservoir the first time you shut the car off after getting
it good and hot. It might take a couple of driving cycles
for all the excess to be forced out. However, once the level
drops to the "full cold" line this should stop.

Is it, by chance, a 3.8?
If so, you've either lost a head gasket or a timing cover gasket, or
both. Get rid of the peice of scrap before it bleads you dry. ANY
coolant in the oil of a 3.8 will kill it in short order.

You have a leak in the radiator or the hoses that connect it to the
engine.Or a heater hose that goes to the firewall between the engine and the
cab.
when the fluid leaks, and gets low, it will overheat badly.
Keep adding water until you find the leak.
It is green because the antifreeze in the water is green.

from wat u have just outlined it would seem that your radiator is
leaking coolant hence the green fluid dripping near the frontof your
car. it could be a hole or just leaky tubes. best to get it checked
out by a mechanic soon tho. if ur car overheats, then it could cause
serious damage to your engine and burn allur seals in the gasket.

Dripping green stuff means ALIEN ATTACK don't drive it anymore you could be
vaporized by them.

I once lost an engine due to a slow coolant leak--didn't realize that
the a-freeze had been diluted (by me, I'll have to assume resp.) due to
topping off just twice w/water "until later when I had access to a-freeze".
Get it fixed!!! s

ROTFLMAO
Are you for real? You don't have any idea what that "green fluid is?
