I am in the process of replacing my in-tank fuel pump in a 96 Chev 1500 PU with a 305. I noticed the fuel pump is connected to the line via a "pulsator". Should I also replace the pulsator? It seems likely that the fuel pump may have been ok, but the fuel could have had an internal tank leak via the pulsator? The truck would not start if cold, idel once once stated but if rpm rasied to 1000, then would cough. If brough back to idle, would run ok, if continued to raise rpm would stall. What is with the pulsator? I find it had to believe it will hold in 50 or 60 psi the way it fits together. We don't re-install the pulsators anymore, we just use the hose and clamps that are supplied. Ian I left mine off, used the piece of hose, and it works fine. Which makes me wonder, what the heck does the pulsator do? Yes, I did get a piece of hose and two clamps. I assumed they were for another type of vehicle with a different set up. I will install the hose and leave the pulsator off. Thanks Mountain |
