Hello,
I have a 97 Expedition which needs the upstream O2 sensor replaced on
the passenger side. I have the O2 socket, but my question is, how the
heck do you get at it? The entire sensor and wiring harness are
blocked by the exhaust, heat shields, etc. I don't see any way to get
the socket around the sensor. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

I did one of these on an Explorer a few weeks ago. Forgive me if they
are not similar. Anyway, on the Explorer, take the wheel off and get in
there from the side with an open ended wrench to loosen it. Forget
about using the socket. As for unhooking the clip to separate it from
the wiring, you need somebody with SMALL hands. (I had to get somebody
else to do that) I think the flat-rate time gives you about a half
hour, but it may take several.......
It is impossible to unhook it from the wiring from on top. Good luck.
