... winders is brain-dead - sun uses a Unix filesystem
that winders does not understand, hence your issue. unless,
of course, they did format them with an MS-DOS type of
filesystem - if so, then maybe the floppy is goofed or
the floppy drive is out of whack.
how to read it? maybe get a Linux LIVE-runnable CD, such
as Knoppix and boot to it, the mount the floppy ...

All that stuff is protected. You can't read it on anything but a sun
machine. Tried this once with parts catalogue discs from work that are
updated every month & couldn't read them either. Put in there by the
provider so they can't be pirated, common practice.
