How do you release the fuel system pressure on a 2002 Chevy Silverado?

I'm planning on changing the fuel filter.
What is a good, safe way to release the fuel pressure on this truck
before removing the in-line filter?

You could hold a rag over the press. guage schrader valve and depress it to
catch the fuel.  Or you could pull the fuel pump fuse and crank the engine a
few seconds.  Either way has always worked for me on a GM vehicle.
