Newb question, I know.

Is this possible, or feasible? I found a 92 Camaro RS with a 5.0L V8
TBFI with an auto tranny for $800. Runs, sounds great, but I much prefer
stick shift.

Nothing to it,
New computer, new wiring harness, add the clutch pedal, install a pilot
bearing in the crankshaft, Change the center console and cut the holes
out for the shifter. Bolt in new trans and replace the driveshaft.
Change the gear ratio.

In short NOT worth it to bother. If you want one with a stick find one.
One quick comment. The stick is slower than an auto and gets worse
mileage than the slushbox.

No need for the computer and wiring harness.  Just unplug the torque
converter solenoid wiring and possibly get a new chip from the dealer for a
manual trans.  Also the driveshaft is the same length for the auto and
manual trans.  Also you forgot having to cut holes for the clutch pedal and
mounting it.  Depending on the gear ratio, more than likely 2.73's, I'd swap
to 3.23's or 3.42's.  Possibly even 3.73's.  You could go hog wild and put
in 4.11's if you get a 6 speed.

to the OP, if you're looking for a fun car to drive, a TBI engine isn't what
you should be looking for.  If it were a 350 TPI, I would say keep it and
find a manual trans.  Since the motor AND the transmission are less than
desirable, I'd go find a different car.

As Steve W. mentioned, it is done all the time.  It can be a major PITA,
finding all
the parts and mounting them, but is definitely possible.
