turning off engine while gear in reverse

automatic transmission.

My gear was in R.  While my foot was on the brake pedal and I had come
to a complete stop, I absentmindedly turned off the engine.

Question:  Did that affect the transmission in a bad way?

no not at all.. It will have no affect on the transmission at all   Dean

Why on earth would you even THINK that this might harm anything????
