I have a 91 Camry LE with 187k miles. It has automatic transmission.
Recently, I noticed that it vibrates noticeably when I put it into
gear. The vibration is about the same whether I have the ac on or
not. Also, the rpm's remain about the same (about 700 rpm)
The vibration is accompanied by a low rumbling sound when in gear.
Both the vibration and rumbling sound disappear when I put it into
neutral. Today I also discovered that the vibration is very much
less when it is placed into neutral. I would appreciate some
thoughts as to what this could be?
Thanks, Al Kondo

Loose torque converter?
Is there any trans fluid leak?

If you haven't replaced the engine mount near the front of the engine
(timing belt cover area) yet, then that is 99% the likely culprit on
your Camry.

Check fluid level and motor mounts.
