Is this a part that someone could change easily?

Depends on the ability of the person...

I never had to change it on my 1992 Geo tracker with the 1.6l 4, but it
was sitting in the exhaust manifold which is on the drivers side of the
engine. It should be easy to get to, but anything screwed into an
exhaust manifold maybe a little hard to get out.
