My girlfriend's family has a Buick LeSabre. Vehicle starts up, system
checks okay (various lights in cluster, such as service engine - ABS -
traction - etc. shut off as they are supposed to shortly after car is
running). However, I rode with him for about 5 miles and the ABS system
turned off, the traction control turned off, and the service engine
light came on. These three lights came on simultaneoisly in the
instrument cluster, combined with the annoying 'beep' you hear when a
door is open and your headlights were left on. The car still drives and
functions as normal (aside from braking and traction), except for that
the blower fan for the climate control shuts off or changes speeds <---
??? I looked on edmunds.com reviews, and there were many instances of
this problem tolerated by other drivers, but no 'cure'. Suggestions?
Note: Car has been in 'shop' various times - some sensors have been
replaced. Problem is intermittent and resumes back to normal operation
at random intervals.

Could be a voltage regulator (in the alternator) intermittently shorting. I had this happen on my Beretta. It caused the ABS light to come on with what I later discovered was an overvoltage fault. The ABS light came for a few weeks before the high voltage problem became more apparent; bright lights etc.

The only way to determine what is setting the indicators is to read the
computer codes. Also check or have checked all the electrical system
grounds...

Your SES light is on due to a powertrain code being set by the PCM.
This will trigger the ABS and Trac lights as well because traction
control depends on some engine control to operate.  If you fix the
powertrain issue, all three lights can then be cleared and will stay
off (until the next problem arises!)
