I used this in a new car today and didn't get a response after 45
minutes.
Is this typical?
Was I charged for this since my service included 30 minutes of phone
time?
Quite disappointed.

It takes a while for them to track all the parameters in your
system.........
How fast you are driving.....
Exactly where you are located....and the speed limits in that area......
Your average speed over the last several miles....
etc., etc.,

I had a flat, so I was staying under 60 on my run flat tires.
I had the impression that the call was connected and I was on hold
because the voice on the line said something like "please wait for the
next available assistant"
It's a new car and a new OnStar account, so I'll contact them and iron
it out.
Thanks to all for your input.

Why don't you call them from a land line and ask? After 45 minutes did you
get a response or did you give up? The couple times I've had an experience
with On-star, the response was virtually immediate.

A 45 minute wait is an indication that you never had a connection.
Your location may have precluded the receiver from seeing the
satellite. Or there is some operational problem with the unit. Take
the car back to the dealer.

45 minutes is absurd for the advertised safety feature of Onstar.
Unless they monitored your vehicle and could tell you were moving but
even so 45 minutes - not acceptable.

I doubt he was connected. Since he was driving may have hit an area of
no signal, or it wasn't set up right..
