Hi!

This protege have a manual transmission, it's becoming harder to shift
speed. The shift lever is hard to move but the gears don't grind when
changing. May be it's a lubricating problem.

Where should i look to solve this problem?
Is it a common problem with the protege?

Thank's for your advice...

Are you sure the clutch is fully disengaging? Could it be possible that
the hydraulic clutch system is not fully releasing the clutch from
engine? This could cause difficult shifting in all gears...

This is usually caused by a bad slave cylinder. If it gets worse you will be able to shift gears with the engine off, but not when it is running.

Hi!

I verified the hydraulic clutch system by a functionnal test, on a level
surface and the disengagement seems correct, there is nothing abnormal like
smell, or a tendency to move foward. Also there is no grinding noise when
the gears engage, and the shifting problem is the same when the motor is
running and when it's stopped. I read that a bad disengagement should render
the shifting harder when the motor is running.
These facts let me think that the problem could come from the shifter
mecanism.

Any idea?
May I acces the mecanism by inside the car?

Thanks.
