hi, Dear Friends

I got my 2nd hand Taurus several months ago. The engine type is 3.0L V6
SFI OHV, FLEX FUEL. Now it is 80,000 miles. One my friends recommend me
to replace the timing belt/chain on this car.
First, I do not know if my car has a chain or a belt.
Second, I called the dealer just now and the mechanician said the
timing belt/chain can last until the engine exhausted. Sorry I just did
not hear if it is a chain or it is a belt. Is this information
possible?
My friend's Saturn had a broken belt and damaged the engine at 60,000
miles. So I am somewhat concern about my car.
I looked through the maintenance manual and there is nowhere mentioned.
Can somebody help me out?
Thanks.

There will be other things that fail before your timing chain. Don't
worry about it.
E85 is $1.99 where I live, compared to regular unleaded at about $2.35
now.
Wish I had a FFV car. (Spare me the reply that fuel mileage will be
less. I already
know that)

Make sure you provide regular maintenance on your tranny.

If this is the basic 3.0L engine - not the Vtech - it has a
chain that will last as long as the engine.  That engine is
about a bullet proof as anything on the road today.
