I have a 1991 Honda Accord LX V6 and my Alternator has went. A friend
of mine was gonna change it for me... but after looking into he said he
couldn't because he said you need some kind of SPECIAL TOOL? Is this
true? And.... could I perhaps get the TOOL he needs to do the job?
Thanks

You can move the driver's side axle out of the way and fiddle the
alternator through the small opening that affords. Alternately, you
can put a jack under the engine, then remove the left motor mount cross
bolt (in front of the timing cover) and the upper bolt on the front
engine strut (not quite a motor mount) and lower the engine a few
inches to gain clearance.
If your friend considers metric tools to be special, then you may want
to seek other help. Perhaps he was talking about a 32mm axle nut
socket? You can get a Calvan, KD, or equivalent deep axle nut socket
at Autozone type stores for about $15. They are very good quality for
the money and USA made.

A craftsman 32mm socket should be under $6 and it comes with a lifetime
warranty. I just bought a 36mm socket for $6. Now I just need to figure
out how to loosen the stupid axle nut. I already broke one breaker bar,
sheared off the square drive end, trying to break the nut loose. Luckily I'm
not in a hurry to get this done.
