One day my check engine light comes on and all of a sudden vehicle
response slows down acceleration is poor, idle speed reduces I take it
in to midas and they tell me Oxygen sensors need to be changed and that
is why vehicle is driven not the way it shoul estimate to fix $800 I
said to myself that isridiculous and decided to fix myself. I replaced
two of 3 sensors using theBOSCH universal sensors and vehicle condition
did not change so I decided to check using a digital voltmeter if the
problem was the o2 sensor, the sensors all 3 where given the right
voltage btw 0 & 1v  at the same time I am hear a sound when the hood is
up as engine is ideling I realize that the air intake hose connecting
airfilter box the fuel injector has a slit there letting air escape so
I expanded this gap and the engine stoped. I started the engine back
and tryed to patched up this hole with duct tape and engine performance
improved significantly. I now replaced the hose with a brand new one
and car drives perfectly and symtoms gone except for the check engine
light. Isther a way to reset this ??

Take it to a garage and pay to have it shut off. Just curious, what
were the codes that were in the car before midas told you that O2
sensors were needed?

Probably  an O2 sensor lean mixture or "no inversion" indication.  In
typically ignorant fashion Midas never considered the possiblity that
the upstream O2 sensors were truthfully reporting a lean mixture from
an obvious air leak, but instead blamed the messengers.

A lot of O2 sensors get sold at Autozone from their free code checks,.
A lot of the time these O2 sensors don't fix the problem!

There are several ways to reset the light.

1. Do nothing and if the problem that turned on the light is no longer
present the light will go out by itself eventually. That could be as many as
fifty days.

2. Have a repair shop record and then clear the codes using a scan tool.
(Best method)

3. Disconnect the battery negative cable for a couple of minutes. Of course,
that will also reset all of your modules' memories, including the radio if
it has one,
