My 1996 Honda Civic generates a high freq. droning rattling noise when
I press the acceleration hard. The noise sounds like a rotating
electrical fan knocking with a piece of paper... This noise disappear
if there is no harsh acceleration. I can't tell where this noise is
from... Today, this noise seems to get more noticeable than
yesterday... This is not good.. Does anybody know what could possibly
be the problem? Thanks a lot!

Likely culprit is a loose heat shield on the exhaust. Somebody has to get
underneath and wiggle/tap them all to check.
You can tear it off, or clamp it im place with a large hose clamp.

Does this noise occur if you rev the engine in neutral or does it only
happen if the engine is under a load?
If it occurs in neutral then it is most likely a rattling exhaust shield. If
it occurs only under a load then there is probably some malfunction causing
detonation or pinging. There can be a lot of things that might cause that,
and more information along with some diagnostic procedures would be needed
to find the cause.

Valve noise. How much mileage is on the engine?
