I plan to leave my car (cavalier 2001) on the driveway for 6 months. I
am thinking of taking the battery out and into the house to hook up to
a battery charger.
Is it OK to leave the car electronics without power for so long?

Thanks,
TB

The electronics will be just fine.
I would take out the battery and put it out in the back yard.
Putting it on trickle for 6 months will probably destroy it.
If it won't charge up 6 months later, then buy a new one.

Should be no problem...

Electronics in the car should be fine.  Not a good idea to leave the
battery on a charger for 6 months though.  Clean the top and terminals
thoroughly, top up water, charge once and just store it with terminals
covered.

Dont leave the battery in your house can be quite dangerous especially
if you keep it in a cupboard, they give off hydrogen gas which is
obviously flammable and just in case there is some sort of spark. If
you do leave the battery for several months, charge it up every 2 or 3
months depending on the battery's present condition it will be fine to
use in six months time

Thanks for all the replies....
At first I thought the car's gonna lose its "memory" after power-off
for several months... kinda like when the cmos battery for PC bios is
dead and it lost some of the settings....
So if that's not gonna happen to the car, I'm good...

Thanks,
TB

You will have to reset the clock and radio stations.
Some fuel mixture and possibly other learning in the power control
module will be lost.  It's highly unlikely you will even notice and it
will relearn in no time.

It WILL lose many of its drive cycle settings, however, it will recreate them
after a few drive cycles.  Its no big deal.  Probably done thousands of times
every day in the US alone.

Only if it is a relatively sophisticated "intelligent" charger that
knows when to shut down.  Even a very light duty 2 amp unit without
the proper "brain" will overcharge and destroy a battery in 6 months.

100% OK!

Does your radio have an anti-theft code? If so, disconnecting the battery
will erase that and you'll need to re-enter the number.
