Could someone check a VIN for me if they have Carfax? WVWSK61JX3W159235
Well, I've been reading up and I've heard a lot of bad stuff about
flood salvage titles. I'm thinking of buying one that is advertised as
a salvaged vehicle. I spoke with the guy and he said that it is like
new, electrically and mechanically sound and that the flooding was very
light "just under the seats". The car looks brand new. I searched the
NICB database and it says that this car wasn't a Katrina or Rita flood
car. Any advice? Is it truly dangerous to drive these cars? I'm just
strapped for cash and I need a deal. THANKS!

If it were I, I would probably just run from this deal. You have no idea
how
much trouble a car like this can develop.
If you are hellbent on going forward, don't do it without researching the
history of the car yourself and find out all the details. Talk to the
previous
owner, etc.

It "could" be a good deal is you got the car for a huge discount off
retail and you were willing to gamble. If the flooding was just under
the seats that is enough to get into most electrical and mechanical
components. 50% discount from retail would be the highest I would go.

If you are "strapped for cash" how are you going to be able to pay for
constant repairs to the vehicle's electrical system?
If will be very bad if it was freshwater -- much worse if saltwater.

If I were a dealer & you my next-door neighbor, I would sell you a
collision-"salvaged" car that had been repurchased and repaired with $3500
in damage expense, if I had supervised the repairs (even if I had farmed the
repairs out). I would NOT sell you a car that had either $3500 or just $300
repairs to correct flood-damage, regardless of who made it presentable, both
visually, mechanically, and electrically. s

Given the potential for great financial loss, I would think it would be
worth it for YOU to invest in your own CARFAX account.........
Why should someone invest THEIR money into a CARFAX package only to save
YOU a few dollars in looking up a VIN?
Cheap a.shole!!!!!
