I took my car in for a warranty check for the notorious  piston slap on my
3.1 Century. They told me that the piston slap was "normal" and let them
know if it gets louder and to bring it in.  When's that? When the warranty
expires out? So they can make more money on it?  There is a TSB on it and I
think it should be repaired. If its normal why have TSB on it.

I think TSB's are like 'lessions learned' for service techs.
Something the manufacturer puts out to give extra attention too.  Does
not mean that your car is victum to the problem, but it should be
monitored.

Side note: I had problems with my saturn that caused it to stall
during the summer months now and then.  What a pain.  There was a
recall or something on the fuel pump.  I ran to saturn figuring this
was the problem that was ailing my car.  Nope.  My car's fuel pump
checked out ok.

Back on topic, what gives you the idea you are having problems with
your engine?

later,

tom

When I start the car I get a ticking noise.  It doesn't happen when sitting
over night and start it in the morning. It does it after that through out
the day
