I have a 1999 chevy s-10 pickup. just started noticing some oil drips under
my truck, crawled under to investigate, and the oil cooler lines that run
from the motor to the radiator are leaking??? looks like the crimps on them
were crimped down to hard.. I know my factory warranty has expired...but
shouldnt this be covered by the manufacturer?? Dont feel I should have to
pay anything for this to be fixed...dealership says they cant do anything
.this isnt a part that normally wears out??? it was a defective product that
was installed?? anyone got any ideas on this?? or how to go about getting
the factory to look into this?? or how to report it, in case it is a common
problem, and they can do some kind of recall?

Do you really think your situation is that uniqie and that your call or
letter to GM will enlighten them to the problem? This has been a known
issue for years and years, no recall, no free fix, you gotta pay for it,
like it or not.

If you bought a good extended warratny when you bought your truck, chances
are they would cover this (like the GM Protection Plan). If not, the
warranty was 3 years or 36K miles, whichever was 1st. After that your on
your own, weather it is a wearable part or not makes no diff.

I just bought a uaed 1989 Chevy Caprice Station Wagon. Every single
door handle is broke. I felt the same way, and asked a dealer about
it. He laughed and said the car is old, and what do I expect. Well,
I just retured an 85 Olds wagon, which is very much the same body, and
has the same engine, etc. Well, that car is 4 years older and not one
of the handles is broke, or has been replaced since I bought the car
in 1995. The handles look similar on the outside, but the hinged
parts are very thin on the 89 Caprice compared to that on the Olds. I
KNOW that these handles were made cheaply, and that is why they broke.
I can honestly say that this SHOULD be replaced by the factory. At
the same time, I know they wont do it. Maybe if I hired an attorney
and spent considerable time in the matter they might do something, but
I also know it would cost me more than to just replace them. The
parts house wants $23 each, so for about $100, and lots of time to rip
the doors apart, I can and will fix it. I see no other choice.

Buy a truck?
hehe
Good luck with your doors. If you got that from a dealer that way, you can
probably raise enough hell to get new ones installed on a Stealer level
without spending any green on lawyers. Your dealer will never be nice to you
again, but then on an 89 your not going to let them do an oil change
either...
