I got a new Civic and I'm having a problem with its power-outlet, or
socket (formerly known as a cigarette lighter).  Anyway, I need it to
recharge my cellphone, but when I try to remove the cellphone
charger/adapter from the socket, it doesn't want to come out.  At one
point I couldn't remove it at all and took it in to the dealer.  He
said there's different sizes of sockets, and that to remove my
cellphone charger from it they'd have to remove the whole panel just
to get to it.  Well, I decided against it and finally managed to
remove it myself.  So what now?  Does anybody know about these things?
How many different socket sizes are there? Do I need a different size
other than the one that comes standard?  Thanks.

Go to AutoAone & buy an extension--leave the male plugged in all the
time and just use the female end when you need a charge.  A splitter would
serve the same purpose.  HTH, sdlomi2

Theres only one size cig lighter plug. If its stuck check to be sure the
metal side tabs are not bent. AND put a SMALL amount of lub on the metal
taps or in the female plug, patrolium gel or greaes. Electronic stores have
a lubiracating contact gel.

Update:  I tried squeezing the charger's side tabs using pliers so it
would fit. I also lubed them. (BTW, I got the cellphone charger from
'Batteries Plus").  Unfortunately the charger "head" got separated
from the adapter completely, and got stuck in the socket.  I had to go
back to the same dealer, and they removed the part that was stuck, but
unfortunately they did damage to my dash.  So I have to make another
trip to them to get the socket AND the dash fixed.  I also have to get
a new charger, since the old one came apart. So beware people, of
adapters that don't smoothly fit the car socket!!
