That is because they are only brokers, selling FOR dealers. Only
franchised dealers can sell new cars in the US. You end up
paying what the dealer wants plus a $200 to $300 fee to the
broker.
When I was in retail, brokers would call to see if we still had a
particular vehicle in stock and if we would sell it, no trade, at
$200 over net invoice. If we did they would send somebody from
another dealer, if the customer was far away, to pick up the car
for that dealer to deliver. If the customer was close they would
come in to pick up the car at an agreed selling price of $200 to
$300 over the price we gave the broker and we would send them the
difference.
MAW, Get their best price and take it to a local dealer, he will
beat their price on exactly same vehicle by $200 to $300.
