I agree.  Lets ban Ford Tauruses and give the owners AK47s instead of
cars.  That way these killers will stay home and shoot skwrrills an
coons instead of causing accidents on the roads.

Isn't an AK47 an automatic weapon?  As I understand it the ban
that expired was on weapons that LOOK like assault weapons, not
Automatic weapons.  Automatics have been illegal since the
thirties and are unaffected by the law that was allowed to
expire.  Just for the record President Bush stated he would sign
an extension of look alike weapons IF one was passed by the
congress.
