So I go to Advance Auto Parts & ask for an oil sending unit for my '86 S10
Blazer w/gauges (2.8). How about $46.99? I go to Zone across the street
and they want $45.
I have bought the same damn part for my '89 Camaro about two years ago
from Zone & the price was about $16.00. Same el-cheapo brand, same part
(three-prongs). Also picked two up for two of my Fieros; they were in the
$15.00 range.
How, in two damn years, can this part now be worth $45? Why? Did the
oil-sending-unit factory blow up? Are 80's GM cars now "exotic"? There
are millions of the damn things on the road still.... I can't imagine the
demand suddenly escalating or dropping... Is it some secret Auto-Part
Store conspiracy?
ANYWAY, does anybody know of a cheaper means to buy one of these things
new? I hate to put a used one on my car but spending nearly fifty bucks
for a freakin' gauge sender seems a little ridiculous.
It's not like I'm driving a Citroen or anything, sheesh!

Thats alright. I went to Carquest to get a set of plug wires for a 79
Ford pickup. They wanted $56 for a set. I nearly dropped to the
floor. I went to Autozone and bought a set for $20.
