Villager Starting Problem

For several months now, my 1999 Mercury Villager likes to turn over
for 5-10 seconds before starting.  I need to give it a little gas to get
it to start.  I suspect the fuel pump is weak. Is this something the
dealer can figure out easily, or does it have to get worse before it
can be diagnosed and fixed?

Thanks!
Scott

IMHO, avoid the "stealership" like the plague.
Nothing particularly unique about you vehicle. Any
competent mechanic can do the diagnosis with a
fuel pressure gauge and a volt/ohmmeter. If it is
the fuel pump, avoid the temptation to "save
money" by getting a rebuilt. They have a bad
reputation.  I'd bite the bullet and specify new
OEM.
FWIW
YMMV
