new keys for your car vin#

?  I did go to snopes and it is true. What else will thieves

Dealers are *supposed* to check owner's identity and vehicle ownership
*before* making keys! (Yes, many don't!)

As to tape covering the VIN in the windshield, technically you
shouldn't do that (and could be cited for doing so). Better yet, just
take some junk and drop it into or on the vin tag. At least you can
say "Gee, I didn't realize ti was covered!" <bg>
