O'Reilly just ran a radio add for oil and filter for $6.99.

Right now I'm trying to track down WHY I keep getting gas in my oil and am
changing my oil every week, which, with changing jobs right now, is a bit
painful.

Grandad (an auto-mech and machinist) always said, "Only use good Pennsylania
crude in your car" (which is saying something considering we live in Texas
:>) so I've only ever used Quaker State personally.

Does anyone know who makes O'Reilly's oil?

I've learned over the years that at the grocery store, half the store-brands
are just re-branded famous brand stuff...wondered if it were the same in
this industry.

Thanks,
John

Never heard of them.. <g> Probably if they are not tryign to build a
customer base, it is reprocessed, used, engine oil. Fine for an
engine/vehicle that has no significant value.

Of course, when you buy oil by the 55 gallon drum, it is much cheaper
than WalMart!

However, if you are getting serious contamination in a week, you need
to fix that ASAP--you are really phshing that lubricant and bearings!

The last time that I diagnosed a fuel in oil problem it was due to no spark
due to a bad plug wire.

Oddly enough, the oil in the gas really showed up after a tune-up by a
mechanic's shop (that we trust).

Maybe I can check that this afternoon...

Thx,
John

John, O'Reilly oil, will either  be  Havoline, or Valvoline, at one time
was  Hav.  dont know  who has  the contract..  BTW  theres  no re
refined  oil  in O'Reilly stores..you can buy one  brand of Non
Detergent oil though.. mostly  power equip. uses  it..  As for the free
filter.  That correct & a  very good deal.. You buy the oil.. the filter
is price over ridden to 00. *S

About the gas in crankcase... depending on year.. ( IE. Fuel Injected or
Carb.... Older cars  with Carb.. most times  are  choke pull-off not
working,. you have no idea just how much fuel it will take  right down
the intake...... wash the valves then down in the pan.  IF you pull a
plug on each cyl..& find ALL  washed  ( WHITE )  electrode.. its a
Choke  prob.  if  you find it in a single cylinder  (  Fuel Injection. )
is a bad injector. or needs new seals/o-rings.   If Multi-port Inj..
probably   Fuel reg...  Good luck.. u sure can blow up an engine  that
way..  get it fixed  soon.. OH!  Forgot  as  another suggested..  single
cyl.. may be  bad  plug  or  wire.. that  cyl  washes   & fowls  the
plug..   again   good luck..

On a older vehicle with a mechanical fuel pump, a bad diaphram can leak
fuel directly into the crankcase.
