I have a 2000 Mazda Protege that is well maintained. Today the battery
light began to come on and off...and there seemed to be no power or
"get up and go" behind the car. I cannot obviously take it to the
dealership tomorrow since it will be Sunday. I am wondering if it is
probably just the battery (although it is only a year old), or if it
could be something really wrong with it. Any ideas?

you say no power do you mean the engine has no power or do you mean the
transmission is in failsafe <3rd>gear and feels like the car has no power
till you get it above 25 mph?
