Solution looking for a problem? Coil springs break. As to teh tire
damage, didn't you look to see why the side was so low? As to cost,
seems reasonable ($375 US) especially if that included a tire. That's
life.
FYI - The side wasn't low. The vehicle sat normally, and there was no
indication of a problem.
As to "coil springs break", the cars I have owned: 1965 Volkswagen, 70,000
miles, no coil spring failure. 1972 Datsun 510 2-door, 150,000 miles, no coil
spring failure. 1983 Ford Tempo GL 2-door, 250,000 km, no coil spring failure.
1993 Ford Temp GL 2-door, 249,000+ km, no coil spring failure. 2002 Ford
Taurus SEL, 90,000 km, coil spring failure. None of the aforementioned
vehicles was abused. I have the coil springs and the tire from the 2002
Taurus for forensic examination (the failure wasn't the result of collision,
curbs, or potholes).
